Our Adventures in Colorado

Dave (accidentally) bid on and won a vacation package for four to Eagle County, Colorado in a charity auction - oooops. Gelina (being a great wife and all) decided not to kill him, instead we made the the best of it and took Dave's folk's along with us for a vacation in June.

We stayed in Edwards for 5 days - did some fly fishing, shopping, and hiking, and then traveled to Dillon for another 3 days to revisit some old haunts.

This bridge passes over the little town of Red Cliff. We saw it when we took a day trip up to Camp Hale and Leadville.

This is the Eagle River as it flows through a valley near Wolcott.

Dad and Dave went trout fishing several times, but never managed to land one.

We think it was because of his fishing hat.

We drove out to Glenwood Springs and saw some of the damage from the fire they had.

In one place the fire jumped I70, burned out some businesses, and roasted this poor guys Jeep right into the ground.

In Dillon we stayed right across from the lake. The level has probably dropped 20 feet in the past few years.

One day we went into Keystone.

This is the world's coolest Starbucks in the old Silver Mill building.

Colorado picsWe did some hiking around at the top.

She did fine, but Dave just couldn't find any air up there at all.

The view of Lake Dillon was pretty impressive

Keystone resort offered hikes with llamas - you hike, they carry your gear.

On our visit to Leadville we saw lots of these little Victorian homes/shacks.

Rancho Escondido - that was the sign on this old homestead outside Leadville.

On our way to Vail we saw these sheep heading down the railroad tracks. At first we thought that they had gotten loose, but then we saw that just one guy and his dog were herding them along to market.
