We both love to cook, and over the years we've collected a lot of recipes that we enjoy making whenever we get the chance. Our style is pretty eclectic, and is often inspired by our trips. Some recipes we've developed ourselves, some we've gotten as gifts from friends or inherited from family, others we've adapted from either restaurant meals or books. As far as cook books, our collection runs the gamut - Sally Schneider's A New Way to Cook, Alton Brown's I'm Just Here for the Food, standards from Betty Crocker, and Dave's cherished 1942 copy of Woman's Home Companion Cook Book (first, kill the chicken...). The addition of the Big Green Egg cooker has added a number of dished to our repertoire. Dave's a big fan of the barbecue books by Steven Raichlen, Cheryl and Bill Jamison, and Dr. BBQ. For cooking gear, we love our Calphalon One Infused Anodized pans, and we're getting to the point where we may need a Penzey's Spices 12-step group. A note on our recipes - if you follow them as written you'll most likely create a pretty good dish. If, however, you view them as recommendations and a starting point for your own inspiration, then you have a good chance of making a truly great meal. |
